Few Minutes..Yet So Many!!

All Facts, Has Resemblances with Characters very much Living!!
( Incident Location : Oracle Parking Area
Incident Date : Few Months Ago )

Like any other evening, people were waiting for the shuttle service in our Oracle Campus. Tired faces after a day long work were waiting impatiently for the cabs to arrive in time. But this always becomes too much of an expectation as its very difficult to beat the traffic. Yes, these are the cabs upon which the life of so many Oraclites (including me :)) depend for daily commutation from the Hitec City bus stop to the main campus. There is this queue system for "First Come First Served". Its just a virtual line no-one strictly stands in a perfect queue. But worthy of mentioning, in the mornings while coming to office everyone follows it strictly :-).But you see we need to prove tat we are "Human Beings" who think standing in queue is below our dignity, people avoid queuing in the evenings. So now it narrows down to the responsibility of every individual to check whether they fall into the eligible 9 when reaching the parking area. ( only 9 at a time in Tata Qualis ) I was the third person to reach the spot . As time passed by, head count started increasing and by the time the cab arrived there were more than sufficient people. Its a reflex action that the moment ppl see the cab they tend to get into it desperately.
Here comes the questions of basic courtesy...
  • why do the late comers try to squeeze themselves in ?
  • Do they do it cos they r not able to overcome the reflex or do they do it on purpose ?

Whatever be it .. its just breach of rule! And now began the actual fun ... the guy who had been there from the beginning cud not manage a seat .. but the gal who was not supposed to b in the cab as she had come late .. yeah u guessed it right.. she went in and sat right royally. This guy got really frustrated which was very evident from his reactions. He dint know whom to pull out as he wasn't aware of who came late. Obviously understandable as its not his duty to keep a watch who came 10Th or 11 Th and so on.. The moment cab was full , as typical of any driver , he started driving it! But, this guy did the following

  • Asked the driver to stop ( Appreciative gesture :))
  • He voiced his disapproval of whatever happened ... "Guys I don't know who came late but I know this much that I shdnt b standing out again waiting for the next cab. So the person who came last pls get out". (Again appreciative one :))

No one was ready to get out..(Pitiful).. cud b either of the below

  • The person himself/herself wasn't aware of the fact that he/she did not fall into the criteria.(Come on this is a very corner case... )
  • The thought that everyone is oblivious of the fact, so, why the hell shd I get out (Come on yaar.. this is unfair.. don't keep fooling around)
  • The thought that "What will others think if I get out now, where in, on the first hand I shdnt have got in at all" (This is ridiculous.. change ur attitude! )

Finally , the guy said as no one was ready to get out.. he has the right to pull out anyone whom he feels that he had seen him/her coming after him but not sure whether he/she was the last one to b in ... (Fair enuf)... he could jus remember only one face and asked that person to pave way for him. But that guy refused to get down as he is one among the 9. Same situation fair from one side and unfair from the other side! .. ( May be this is how life is always .. :).. very beautiful in its true sense..We simply don't understand this and go about thinkng wat other person might b feeling for ur actions.. one thing is very clear that watever you do,there will always be equal and opposite responses .. so always be Just and Fear Not!) This added fuel to the burning fire within him and he started venting out his frustrations on this poor guy who shdnt b facing this situation at all in the first place. There began the so called war of words. The point to be noted here is, the culprit (I wud rather address this person like this only ) sat watching all this without even a pinch of guilt .. Sheer murder of attitude! .. feels sad when u put ur minds very deep into this. Suddenly a gal inside the cab asked the guy to come and sit along with the three people sitting in the middle ( I was one among them ) . We had 2 adjust and accommodate the fourth person in the middle as u knw its ideally a three seater. This guy was very happy and said "Thanks a Lot" to her .. and she reciprocated with the broad smile of having offered a great help.

But the Irony is the culprit was that GAL !!!!

In the End , the person who made the mistake , was appreciated and earned a good name but the person who wasnt even anywhere close to being responsible for such an incident, had to bear the bad name and return back home with irritation.. Huh! Very Strange .. but this is how the present world is! Though I knew who the culprit was, I cudnt do anything as everything happnd in jus few minutes. Before I cud realise what was happening and react .. matter got worse and infact got over too.. Anyways... my interference wudnt have eased the air in any way as there was no one to defend me cos everyone was unaware (atleast I believe shd hav been like that only).. It wud hav only increased the number of people into the on-going verbal conflict.

"Few Minutes" Incident ...... yet so many things can b learnt from this :)
